Contrary to popular belief, balayage is a color application technique rather than a specific color itself. Balayage is a French word that literally means ”to sweep.” Balayage is the process of applying lighteners to the hair free-handed, without the use of foils or other traditional weaving methods. Most clients will require the use of foil to ensure proper lift. 

Ombre means fading to light, like this hair color here. Ombré can apply to many things; walls, nails, material and hair. 

Balayage hair styles typically require far less maintenance than traditional weaving/lightening methods. Balayage grows out beautifully and has no straight demarcation lines.  Many clients like how their balayage changes as their hair grows and can go over 6 months without salon maintenance. Clients desiring grey coverage will require additional maintenance.

All Services at Reno Balayage are offered at an hourly rate of $100/HR PLUS product. Our average balayage session (with a Cut & Style) is 2.5 to 3.5 Hours. The cost of product varies depending on desired results and current hair integrity.  Clients with extra length/density, damaged hair, as well as clients seeking transformational color can expect to spend more time and pay more in the balayage studio. Consultations are complimentary and encouraged for new clients but are not required. 

Please arrive to your appointment with CLEAN, DRY hair.  Oil, dirt and product build up will negatively affect the lifting/coloring process. Clients arriving with unwashed hair may have to reschedule or pay for a shampoo/dry if time permits.

Please do not wear your prom dress, your mother's pearls, or your favorite white blouse to your hair appointment. We strive to keep applications as clean as possible, however, chemicals can come in contact with client clothing.
